Motherwell Business Front

Motherwell is located by one of the most important roads in Scotland, the M74. Going north it winds around the River Clyde, Cambuslang and Rutherglen before lmeeting the M8 right in the city centre. Going south, it connects with the A74 and goes all the way across the border to Carlisle, before joining the M6. There are three railway stations in the town. Motherwell station is the main travel hub and the quickest way of getting to Glasgow Central station (journey time averages 30 minutes). The other stations are Shieldmuir and Airbles. Glasgow Airport is 18 miles away and takes roughly 25 minutes to get to from Motherwell by car. Edinburgh Airport is 32 miles via the M8 and has an average journey time of 40 minutes.
Motherwell has 11 primary schools and 6 secondary school is its wider area. Motherwell College in the Ravenscraig area is the local further education college that is part of the New College Lankarkshire network and has over 20,000 students.
With being so close to Glasgow, many residents use the great link provided by trains for nights out. The town is very much a commuter’s own with plenty of parks, walking & cycle routes in areas like Strathclyde Country Park giving a sense of relief from the city.
