Grangemouth Business Front

Known predominantly as the country’s main source of energy, Grangemouth is seen as an important area to house a business. There are some great places to house a commercial business though, as you can see from some of the listings below.

Earl Road Industrial Estate, Falkirk Road, Laurieston Road, West Mains, New House, Abbotsinch and Dalgrain Industrial are some of the most prominent business parks in Grangemouth, with the refinery accounting for the majority of industrial space.

Transport Links

A lot of people commute to the area by car as transport links to the town are well established. Grangemouth lies right by the M9, one of Scotland’s busiest roads. It makes it a doddle to get to Edinburgh (38 minutes by car), Stirling (20 minutes) and Glasgow via the M80 (30 minutes). Edinburgh Airport is only a 20 minute drive away too. Just south of town too is Polmont station. It sits on the Glasgow to Edinburgh Line. Journey times to and from Edinburgh or Glasgow from Grangemouth takes roughly 50 minutes via this station.


Due its location, the majority of educational institutes are located in other towns and cities close to Grangemouth, rather than in them. A majority of students from the town study either at universities in Glasgow or Edinburgh, St. Andrews or the University of Stirling. A high level of industrial graduates work in the town though.

Social Life

Viewed primarily as a town focussed on business, those looking for a fun night out will usually be on trains to Edinburgh or Glasgow. One thing is for sure though, for being a small town it has a high concentration of great restaurants. Centred mainly around the intersection or Earls Road & Station Road, restaurants like The Cinnamon, Wallaces, The Earl of Zetland and Abbotsinch serve up everything from traditional Tandoori dishes to the best of British.
